Aura Gorki Pelinkovac

Aura Gorki Pelinkovac is a traditional Croatian herbal liqueur made in Istria to old recipes and bottled at 30.8%. Pelinkovac, a wormwood led bitter, is a classic of Croatian herbal spirits and deeply rooted in the country's drinking culture, and this one keeps to that style, a bitter herbal liqueur built on wormwood with a backbone of dried herbs and root spice. Its intensity recalls the bigger herbal bitters while keeping a distinct wormwood signature.

The nose is intense and herbal with wormwood, dried herbs, liquorice, cinnamon and a hint of orange peel, the palate tart and complex with a distinctive bitter note, earthy herbs, root spice and a light sweetness, finishing long, dry and bitter with a vermouth like edge. Behind the bar it brings bitter herbal backbone and depth, cutting sweetness and lengthening a drink much as a bitter herbal digestif would. It is best as a digestif, neat at room temperature or slightly chilled, and works as a bitter component in herbal and stirred cocktails. Serve it well chilled or build it into a bitter sweet serve.
