Description
Auersthaler Bratapfellikor is a wintery fruit liqueur from Austria, made at the Auersthaler distillery and bottled at 17%, built to capture the flavour of a baked apple at Christmas. Sun ripened apples form the base, worked into an intense, fruity flavour and refined with the warming spices of the Advent season, cinnamon, clove, vanilla and cardamom with a touch of honey. The result is a seasonal liqueur that reads like baked apple straight from the oven.
The nose is intense baked apple, cinnamon, vanilla and clove with a hint of caramel, the palate full bodied, fruity and spicy with sweet apple, fine cinnamon, vanilla and a touch of caramel, finishing smooth, aromatic and long with a warming balance of spice and a cardamom and honey edge. Behind the bar it works as a sweet, spiced fruit modifier, adding baked apple flavour and warm baking spice, which makes it a natural in winter punches, hot serves and spiced cocktails. It shows best gently warmed in the cold season, and pairs well with desserts. Serve it neat, warmed or over ice.
