Description
Asaka Yamazakura New Born Cask #6214 comes from Sasanokawa Shuzo's Asaka distillery in Fukushima prefecture, distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2017. Part of the New Born series that Asaka released to mark the opening phase of the distillery, it captures spirit that had spent less than a year in oak, giving buyers a direct window into the character of the new make.
Housed in an Ex-Bourbon cask, the wood influence at this age is minimal, and the spirit's own grain and fruit-forward energy carries the glass. At 63.4% ABV, dilution reveals the fresh, light cereal and orchard notes that are typical of Asaka's early distillate. The release was made for the domestic Japanese market and stands as part of the documented early record of the Fukushima craft distillery.
