Description
Armand de Brignac Brut Green Edition is a cuvee from the house, assembled and bottled at Cattier in the Montagne de Reims. It blends Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with Chardonnay setting a fresher, more citrus-driven tone across the assemblage. The second fermentation is carried out in bottle under the Champagne method, and prolonged lees contact develops the toasted bread and biscuit character that marks a traditional-method wine. The dosage is kept dry at Brut so the fruit and freshness stay to the fore rather than any sweetness.
The colour is pale gold with a fine, persistent bead and a soft mousse. Green apple, lemon and pear lead the nose, backed by white flowers, while the palate is crisp and creamy with orchard fruit and a biscuity, lightly nutty finish that runs long. Serve well chilled at around 8 degrees in a white wine glass so the aromatics open, as an aperitif or alongside oysters, grilled white fish and hard nutty cheeses.
