Description
Armand de Brignac Brut Gold is the flagship blend of the house, assembled and bottled at Cattier in the Montagne de Reims. It brings together Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, using Chardonnay for citrus tension, Pinot Noir for structure and Pinot Meunier for a rounder mid palate. The wine undergoes its second fermentation in bottle by the Champagne method and then ages on the lees for an extended stretch, which lays down the toast, biscuit and nut of a developed Champagne. The finishing dosage is dry at Brut.
The colour is a deep gold with a fine, continuous bead. The nose shows green apple, pear and citrus peel with brioche and hazelnut, and the palate is creamy and full, carrying orchard fruit to a long, biscuity close. Serve chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass so the toasted aromatics open, as an aperitif or with shellfish, white fish and hard nutty cheeses.
