Description
Armand de Brignac Brut Gold is the flagship of the range, made by Cattier near Reims, a family house with a long winemaking history run today by the twelfth and thirteenth generations. The cuvee blends roughly equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a smaller share of Pinot Meunier, drawn from selected terroirs and assembled across three vintages for depth and consistency. It is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and extended ageing on the lees carried out by a small team, which builds the toasted, honeyed complexity behind the fruit. The dosage sits at a brut 9.5 g/l.
The nose shows peach and apricot with red berries, candied citrus, orange blossom and a hint of brioche. The palate is rich, with exotic fruit and cherry lifted by lemon and a touch of vanilla and honey, closing long and layered. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass to open the aromatics. It works as an aperitif and pairs with fried scallops and freshwater fish, and its weight also stands up to roasted quail or other game birds.
