Description
Armand de Brignac Brut Gold is the flagship cuvee of the house, assembled and bottled at Cattier in the Montagne de Reims. The blend uses all three principal Champagne grapes, Chardonnay for citrus and structure, Pinot Noir for body and Pinot Meunier for roundness across the mid palate. The wine goes through its second fermentation in bottle by the Champagne method, then rests on the lees for an extended period, which builds the autolytic layer of toast, biscuit and nut that defines a mature Champagne style. It is finished at Brut for a dry, balanced dosage that keeps the fruit and freshness in view.
The colour is a full gold with a fine, steady stream of bubbles and a soft mousse. The nose combines green apple, pear and citrus peel with toasted bread and hazelnut, while the palate is creamy and broad, carrying ripe orchard fruit into a long, biscuity finish. Serve chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass to show the aromatics, as an aperitif or alongside shellfish, roast white fish and hard nutty cheeses.
