Description
Almgold Alpenkrauter is a Tyrolean herbal liqueur, formerly known as Alpengold and still the same product under its current name, bottled at 26.6%. Rooted in Alpine culture and often called a hay schnapps locally, it is by definition an original Tyrolean herbal liqueur that sits between a hay spirit and a classic herbal liqueur, keeping the depth and structure of the herbal style while carrying a distinctive meadow character of its own.
The nose is Alpine hay, mountain herbs, meadow aromas and fine spice, the palate mild and balanced, herbal with a hay like note and Alpine freshness, finishing soft, harmonious and long with herbal depth and earthy, gentian and liquorice tones beneath. Behind the bar it works as a gentle herbal digestif and a soft bittersweet modifier, adding mild herbal depth without the heavy bitterness of a harsher amaro style liqueur. It is best taken neat, lightly chilled or at room temperature where the herbal and hay character can show, and sits especially well as a digestif after savoury, hearty dishes.
