Description
AI Galli is a producer in the Veneto in north-east Italy, working with the region's sparkling grapes. This rosé cuvee is led by Glera and coloured by a portion of red Pinot Nero, the standard route to a pink Prosecco-style fizz. The wine is made by the tank method, with the second fermentation in pressurised stainless steel, which keeps the fruit fresh and primary rather than building autolytic depth. It is bottled young and finished dry at Brut.
The colour is a pale coral pink with a lively, fine bead. The nose is fresh and red-fruited, with strawberry, raspberry and red currant over a light floral note, and the palate is dry and crisp with pomegranate brightness and a clean, easy finish. Serve well chilled at around 6 to 8 degrees in a flute or white wine glass, as an aperitif or with summer salads, light poultry and fresh goat cheese.
