Description
Absolut is produced in Sweden from local winter wheat and water drawn from deep springs, and the 100 expression is its bolder version, set at 50% rather than the usual 40%. The wheat is the reason for its soft, round style: wheat-based spirit tends to a gentle, smooth mouthfeel, and Absolut builds on that with continuous distillation, a column process that runs the spirit repeatedly to a very pure, consistent base. At 50% that purity arrives with more weight and a firmer backbone, so the spirit keeps its clean Absolut character while carrying noticeably more intensity through a drink.
The nose is fine and cereal-led with a subtle spiciness. The palate shows that wheat softness wrapped around a spicy, fresh and velvety texture, and the finish is pure, structured and long thanks to the higher strength. That extra proof is the point, so use it where you want the vodka to push through: a Vodka Tonic built strong, 50ml Absolut 100 over ice with good tonic and a thick wedge of grapefruit squeezed in, where the spirit holds its own behind the bitterness rather than disappearing.
