The bottler Asta Morris bottled this Glen Moray, an 11 year old, distilled in 2007, from cask AM 104, bottled at 50%, one of 270 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.
Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the light, fruity spirit growing rounder. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.
At its natural 50% it is concentrated. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
