This Glen Moray was bottled by Anam na h-Alba, an 11 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 26, bottled at 54.7%, one of 312 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.

Distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the orchard fruit. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and pear. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.

At a hearty 54.7% it carries real weight. A clean, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
