Description
A Glen Moray of a 10 year old chosen by the bottler Alba Import, distilled in 2007, bottled at 46%. Glen Moray is a light, easy Speyside single malt with a long line of cask finishes. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.
It was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and toffee. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear.
At an approachable 46% it is light and easy. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
