An official release of Glen Moray, a 1976/77/78/79, from 1976, at 40%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.

The spirit was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. It was finished in a Port cask, the wood layered over the light malt. At a great, fragile age oxidation rules, sotolon lending maple and dried fig as beeswax and honey linger. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.

At an approachable 40% it is light and easy. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
