    An official release of Glen Moray, a 12 year old, from 2006, cask 99505, at 52.8%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.

    Distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. It was finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood layered over the light malt. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the light, fruity spirit growing rounder. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.

    Bottled at a cask strength 52.8%, it is rich. A clean, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
