Description
A 15 year old Glen Moray, a distillery bottling, at 43%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
The spirit was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. At oxidative maturity aldehydes lend a nutty edge while ellagitannins add a gentle, drying grip over the fruit. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.
Bottled at 43%, it is rounded. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a Speyside single malt of real value.
