A 12 year old Glen Moray, a distillery bottling, at 48%. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.

Worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the body softer and the fruit riper. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit.

Bottled at a cask strength 48%, it is rich. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. It finishes light, fresh and fruity. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
