A 10 year old Glen Moray, a distillery bottling, at 40%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.

It was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the malt, the body softer and the fruit riper. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.

At an approachable 40% it is light and easy. A light, orchard fruit and toffee, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a Speyside single malt of real value.
