Description
This official Glen Moray, an 8 year old, at 40%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s.
It was run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. Most Glen Moray begins in American oak ex-Bourbon, the base for its cask finishes. In these extractive early years the oak gives vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over bright green apple and pear. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
