Description
Glen Moray from the distillery, at 40%. Glen Moray is a light, easy Speyside single malt with a long line of cask finishes. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.
Made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. Maturation finished in a Red Wine cask, layered over the light Glen Moray make. No age is given, but vanillin vanilla and a bright apple are well integrated. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. A clean, fruity sweetness, with red berry and a dry spice from the cask. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is an approachable Speyside single malt from Elgin.
