Isle of Jura Bourbon Cask

The Bourbon Cask is Isle of Jura's purest expression of its house style, the island malt matured fully in ex-Bourbon oak with no sherry or wine influence. Whisky returned to Jura in 1963, when the island's one distillery was rebuilt from the old ruins.

The distillery's tall stills give a clean make that the bourbon wood frames without masking. Matured in ex-Bourbon oak, the cask lets the malt's natural character lead.

Bottled at 40%. The cask's vanillin reads as vanilla and its oak lactones as coconut, maltol adding a toffee sweetness. The recorded notes run to honey, vanilla, citrus, a fragrant lift, fresh fruit and a green leafy note. The clean, honeyed heart of Jura.
