This limited Cardinal Edition 2025 is a collaboration between the Eifel distillery Windspiel and the metal band Powerwolf. The base is Windspiel's signature spirit, distilled from regional potatoes for a famously smooth texture, then refined with tart grapefruit and a tightly balanced botanical bill. At 37.5% it sits gentler than a classic London Dry, but the bittersweet citrus keeps it expressive rather than meek.
It opens expressive and grapefruit-forward, with juniper, cinnamon and floral citrus freshness. The palate is intense and bittersweet, grapefruit zest meeting spicy cardamom, fine juniper and a herbal edge, before a dry, fruity, pleasantly tart finish with real aromatic depth. Build it into a grapefruit gin and tonic with a dry tonic, fresh grapefruit zest and a sprig of rosemary.
