Taylor’s Fine Tawny Port

This is Taylor's Fine Tawny Port, a wood-aged fortified wine from Taylor Fladgate, matured in the firm's lodges at Vila Nova de Gaia.

It is drawn from wines selected for smoothness and mellow character, fortified with grape spirit and aged up to three years in oak casks before the lots are blended a few months ahead of bottling. That short spell of oxidative cask ageing begins to fade the colour toward amber and lifts nutty, dried-fruit notes over the ripe berry base, giving a lighter, rounder style than a long-aged Tawny while keeping it ready to drink on release.

The wine shows a pale brick colour with an amber rim, a mellow nose of butterscotch, fig and prune with nutty, spicy hints, and a smooth, round palate of ripe strawberry-jam fruit. Popular as an aperitif lightly chilled, it also serves well after a meal with dried fruit and nuts or a coffee.
