Description
The fifth release in the Lichtburg Historic Series from Rolf Kaspar, the German independent bottler, a single cask Irish single malt distilled at Bushmills in 2001. Cask 19, an ex-bourbon cask, was bottled in 2022 at 21 years old, a run of 214 bottles for the German market.
Bottled at its natural strength of 53.1%, it shows what long ex-bourbon maturation does to triple distilled Antrim malt: honey and green apple deepening into ripe stone fruit, vanilla pod and polished oak. The single cask format catches one barrel's own reading of the Bushmills character, undiluted and without embellishment, from a distillery whose official releases rarely appear this way.
