Bushmills The Steamship Collection Sherry Cask Reserve was released in 2016 as the first bottling in the Steamship Collection, created for Global Travel Retail. The collection takes its name from the SS Bushmills, the steamship historically used to transport Bushmills whiskey internationally, and the range is built around travel retail friendly single malts shaped by specific cask styles.

Matured in a combination of ex bourbon barrels and ex Oloroso sherry butts, it layers two distinct oak influences into a single profile. Bourbon wood brings vanilla and sweet oak structure through extractives like vanillin and oak lactones, while Oloroso seasoning introduces deeper dried fruit notes and a more oxidative, nutty richness, alongside gentle tannin structure that firms up the finish without turning it dry.

In the glass, expect honeyed malt and vanilla at the front, followed by dried fruit sweetness, toasted nut depth and soft spice. The palate stays smooth and balanced, finishing medium length with lingering sherry richness, gentle oak and a warm spice fade.
