Description
This is where Shortcross whiskey began. Casks W16/001 and W16/002, the first two filled at Rademon Estate in 2016, were vatted for this Inaugural Release, bottled in 2021 at 5 Years Old in a run of 658 bottles for Europe. For the Co. Down estate distillery founded in 2015, it marked the arrival of its own single malt.
The spirit matured in ex-bourbon before a finish in red wine casks and chinquapin oak, an American white oak species prized for spice. Red fruit and berry notes sit over honey, fresh oak and the bright orchard character of young estate malt, bottled at 46%. A marker of the distillery's first chapter as much as a dram.
