Rounded citrus and soft floral notes open over juniper, coriander and a warm spiced finish, all at a bold navy-strength 57%. The flourish: real 23-carat gold flakes that shimmer through the glass as you pour. A limited edition with luxury in its DNA and real backbone beneath the sparkle.
Description
Scapegrace, named for a charming rogue and founded by Mark Neal and Daniel McLaughlin, built its reputation on distinctive New Zealand gin. The Gold expression dials up the theatre: real 23-carat gold flakes are folded into the botanical blend, drifting and catching the light as the gin is poured. It is bottled at a robust 57%, and took gold at the London International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2016.
The nose is floral and rounded, with citrus woven through. The palate is bigger than its glittering looks suggest, juniper and coriander leading into citrus, orange and warm spice, the navy strength carrying it all, before a long finish that returns to florals. Cut it with chilled tonic and a twist of orange so the gold still shows, or pour a high-proof Martini for a touch of occasion.
