Sandeman FINE RUBY Porto

Fine Ruby is the entry Ruby of Sandeman, the Douro house founded in London in 1790. It is a blend led by Touriga Franca with Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cao, fortified during fermentation with grape spirit to lock in the natural sweetness of the fruit.

The wine ages for an average of three years in large oak casks and vats that limit contact with air, a reductive method chosen to protect its youthful colour and fruit. After harvest the lots rest in the Douro before moving to the Sandeman lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia, where they are blended across vintages to a consistent house style.

The result is a bright, brilliant ruby with clean aromas of red fruit, plum and strawberry, round and balanced on the palate with clear plum and red-berry flavour and a hint of chocolate and coffee. Serve it at cool room temperature as a simple after-dinner glass, with dark chocolate, or alongside blue cheese.
