Description
RomDeluxe of Denmark is known for high ester, very high strength single cask funk, and this Limited Batch Series release turns to Ghanaian sugar cane. Pressed from fresh cane juice on a pot still and bottled unaged at a fierce 66.5%, it is an agricole-style white from West Africa rather than the French islands, and it makes no attempt to be polite.
The nose is fresh, floral and intense with sugar cane and a clear ester lift, and the palate hits hard with fermented pineapple, citrus and a seriously dry edge. This is a raw, big fruited white where the strength is part of the point, closer in spirit to a punchy clairin than a soft sipper. The finish runs hot, dry and intense with dried fruit. Best handled in a Daiquiri or a tiki build, where its fermented pineapple bomb of a profile comes into its own.
