Romdeluxe Limited Batch Series 1999

RomDeluxe's Limited Batch Series sits beside the Danish bottler's better known Wild Series, and this Panama release is a single cask drawn from a 1999 vintage and presented at full strength. At roughly twenty one years it carries deep oak, and unlike much soft Panama ron it is bottled to be tasted at cask strength rather than smoothed down.

Unusually for the country, the spirit comes from both column and pot stills, then matured in ex-bourbon and bottled at 57.18%. It pours dark and reads roasted and woody, with dried fruit and caramel on the nose, and a spicy, raisined palate carrying real weight. The finish stays warm with more dried fruit and caramel. There is a hint of sweetness to it in the Panama manner, but the strength and pot-still backbone give it more grip than the usual mellow regional style, making it a robust sipper for those who want power and dark fruit.
