Romdeluxe Worthy Park Limited Batch Series 2015

Bottled by RomDeluxe, the Danish house behind high-ester, high-strength single cask funk, this Limited Batch Series release pairs Worthy Park with a peated whisky cask. Worthy Park is a single-estate St. Catherine distillery whose pot still rums are clean, precise and moderately estery rather than DOK-loud, which makes it a sturdy core for an unusual smoke driven finish.

Distilled on pot still from molasses and aged seven years, it opens smoky before giving way to a banana and caramel cake with vanilla and spice. The palate carries caramel, smoke, peat and anise, the finish staying smoky and peaty over citrus and oak. At 63.9% it hits hard and rewards a little water, which lets the smoke, caramel and banana settle into balance. Unsweetened and bottled at full strength, this is aimed squarely at drinkers who love both peated whisky and Jamaican funk and want the two playing off each other.
