Description
Three Swallow revives an old Powers name, a single pot still whiskey made from malted and unmalted barley at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork. It carries no age statement and is bottled at 40% for the European market, a pot still entry point under the Powers label.
Maturation runs through American ex-bourbon barrels with a portion of Oloroso sherry casks, the bourbon setting a base of vanilla and orchard fruit while the sherry adds a touch of dried fruit. The unmalted barley brings the gingery, peppery pot still spice and an oily texture, softened here by the lower strength and the triple distillation. A gentle introduction to the pot still style.
