Powers Gold Label is the everyday Cork blend from Midleton, spicier and earthier than most thanks to a generous pot still share, matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 40% with a peppery, honeyed warmth typical of the house.

Description
Gold Label is the standard bottling of Powers, one of the oldest names in Irish whiskey, now made at the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork by Irish Distillers. It is a blend of pot still and grain whiskey, carrying no age statement and bottled at 40% for the European market.
The maturation is led by ex-bourbon oak, and while cask specifics are not detailed the house style is well established, a blend that leans on a higher proportion of pot still whiskey than most and so drinks spicier and earthier. Expect black pepper and a honeyed sweetness over a smooth, triple distilled and unpeated base. A workaday blend with more grip than its price suggests.
