Description
Powers John's Lane Release honours the old John's Lane distillery in Dublin, James Power's home of the brand until it closed in 1976, though the whiskey is now distilled at the Midleton distillery in East Cork. Bottled at 12 years old, it is a full single pot still whiskey, triple distilled from malted and unmalted barley in the classic Powers mould.
Maturation in American bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry butts builds a rich profile, vanilla and dried fruit over the oily, peppery pot still spine, with leather and old wood adding age. Bottled at 46%, it is spicier and earthier than its stablemates, a benchmark modern pot still that carries the Powers name forward.
