Description
Powers traces back to John's Lane in Dublin, and though production long since moved to the Midleton distillery in Co. Cork the pot still character remains its signature. This is a cask strength batch of the 12 Years Old, batch number 001, bottled undiluted at 57.8% and released for the Irish market in 2023.
The whiskey spends twelve years in first fill ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks, a combination that stacks chocolate, dried fruit and a toasted, sherried richness on the peppery pot still spine. Full strength keeps the oily, spicy texture of the unmalted barley front and centre, the mash of malted and unmalted grain distilled in copper pots. A muscular reading of the house pot still style.
