Description
This is a single cask Powers, single pot still whiskey distilled at Midleton in Co. Cork and drawn whole from one barrel, cask number 49411. Aged fourteen years and released in 2022 as one of just 216 bottles for an event, it sits well above the standard Powers range in both strength and scarcity, showing the brand's spicier, weightier pot still character undiluted.
The second fill bourbon barrel is a quieter, more restrained kind of American oak, letting the spirit speak: barley sugar and green apple, clove and black pepper, a linseed oily texture and soft vanilla rather than heavy wood. Bottled at cask strength, 57.4%, it takes water well, opening into orchard fruit and a long peppery, gingery finish true to single pot still.
