Description
Cut and Dry is a flavoured coconut rum from Maison Ferrand, the molasses based Barbados spirit infused so heavily with coconut that the result reads more like a confection than a traditional rum. It was the first product released under the new Planteray name and is built squarely for indulgence rather than for the purist shelf.
The coconut is generous and convincingly natural, wrapped in milk chocolate and vanilla and finishing sweet and sugary, the whole thing landing somewhere close to a chocolate coconut bar in a glass. To be clear, this is a sweet, flavoured rum, not a dry sipper, and it is best judged on those terms, where it is genuinely good at what it sets out to do. At 40% it is soft and easy, a fun dessert pour over ice and a natural shortcut to a Pina Colada or a creamy tropical cocktail.
