Description
This Trinidad rum comes from Trinidad Distillers Limited, the living producer behind Angostura, selected and bottled under the Planteray label by Maison Ferrand for the retailer Huis Hardies. Vintage 2016 and aged 9 years, it carries an unusual finish in an Amorik whisky cask, the Breton single malt, and is presented as an unsweetened single cask at 44.1%. TDL distils light and high on the column from Trinidadian molasses, giving the clean, soft, fragrant profile typical of the island, chocolate, caramel and vanilla over light tropical fruit. A Breton whisky cask should add a maltier, faintly maritime layer to that base. A gently strengthened, dry Trinidad single cask with an unusual cask story.
