Description
Moët & Chandon builds its Rosé Impérial as the pink counterpart to the house Brut, a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay to which still red wine is added for colour and red fruit. It is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and extended ageing on the lees, the autolysis that lends Champagne its bready complexity, then finished at a dry Brut dosage. This is the double magnum format, a three litre bottle presented in a wooden crate.
The colour is a bright pink with a fine, steady bead. Strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant lead the nose over white peach and a toasty edge, and the palate is fresh and fruit driven with a creamy texture and a long, dry finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as an aperitif and pairs with white meats, shellfish and fruit desserts.
