Description
Moët & Chandon makes Brut Impérial at Épernay as its best-known cuvée, presented here in a gift box, blending Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The wine is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle followed by ageing on the lees, and that autolysis brings a toasted, nutty complexity beneath the orchard fruit. The blend is built for balance and versatility, and a dosage near 7 grams per litre keeps it firmly in the Brut range, so it finishes dry.
The colour is a clear golden yellow with a green shimmer and an even bead. The nose shows green apple, roasted cashew and vanilla. The palate is sparkling and fresh, with white peach, pear and apple, plus citrus and a touch of gooseberry, closing full and long. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes a classic aperitif and pairs with seafood starters and lightly sauced fish, or a white peach tart to echo its fruit.
