Description
Moët & Chandon makes Brut Impérial at Épernay as its flagship, offered here in a gift box with a gold pen for writing a personal message on the bottle. The cuvée blends more than a hundred wines from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, rounded out with reserve wines for consistency and complexity. It is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and ageing on the lees, and that autolysis builds the brioche and yeast character. A dosage near 7 grams per litre sits in the Brut range, so it finishes dry and lively.
The colour is a brilliant golden yellow with greenish highlights and a fine, persistent bead. The nose shows green apple, pear and citrus, with white flowers and subtle brioche and yeast. The palate is harmonious, with yellow fruit, a delicate freshness and an elegant structure, closing long. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes a classic aperitif and pairs with oysters, prawns, sushi and delicate fish, or white meat and poultry.
