Description
Moët & Chandon builds Reserve Imperiale in the Champagne region as a richer expression of the house Brut, leaning on a higher share of matured reserve wines for depth. The wine is made by the traditional method, the second fermentation completing in bottle before an extended stay on the lees that develops brioche, toast and almond character. The blend is led by Pinot Noir with Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay in support, and the long cellar ageing gives the cuvee its structure and aromatic complexity while a Brut dosage keeps the finish dry.
Expect a brilliant golden yellow with a fine, long-lasting mousse. The nose moves from ripe yellow fruit and citrus into brioche, toasted almond and a subtle honey note. The palate is harmonious and full, with pear, peach and light pastry carried by fresh acidity, closing round and long. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a tulip glass. It suits oysters, lobster and prawns as an aperitif, and has the weight for veal, poultry and mature hard cheeses.
