Description
Moët & Chandon builds Nectar Imperial in the Champagne region as a deliberately fruity, sweeter cuvee. It is led by Pinot Noir with Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay in support, made by the traditional method with a second fermentation in bottle and time on the lees. The defining choice is the higher dosage: it is richer and softer than a classic Brut, so the wine sits firmly on the sweet side, though a fine bead and balanced acidity keep it fresh rather than heavy. It is built to pour with dessert or richer, spiced dishes.
The wine shows bright gold with a lively, fine bead. The nose gives ripe tropical fruit, mango and pineapple, with stone fruit and honey. The palate is creamy and full, intensely fruity with a harmonious sweetness and balanced structure, closing soft and long. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a tulip glass. It suits fruity tarts, mango or pineapple desserts, creme brulee and panna cotta, and its sweetness also stands up to spicy Asian dishes and blue cheese.
