Description
N.I.R. stands for Nectar Imperial Rose, a Moët et Chandon cuvee launched in 2015 for clubs and events and finished here as the Luminous Edition, whose magnum lights up from a button in the base. The blend is 45 to 55 percent Pinot Noir with 35 to 45 percent Pinot Meunier and a smaller share of Chardonnay, giving fruit and structure with a fresh lift. It is made by the traditional method, with second fermentation in the bottle and lees ageing, then finished at a deliberately higher, Sec-level dosage for a smooth, fruit-forward, modern style that also takes well to being served over ice.
The colour is a luminous rose with coppery highlights and a fine bead. The nose is intense, with strawberry, raspberry and red berries alongside cherry and exotic fruit. The palate is full-bodied, smooth and fruit-forward, with juicy berry notes and lively acidity keeping it balanced, closing long. Serve well chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees, neat or over ice. It works with exotic fruits, fruity desserts, prawns and spicier starters.
