Description
Moët & Chandon makes this N.I.R. Dry Rosé at Épernay as the Nectar Impérial Rosé, introduced in 2015 as a modern, fruit-forward style and offered here in a Luminous Edition whose bottle lights up at the touch of a button. The blend runs 45 to 55 per cent Pinot Noir for fruit and structure, 35 to 45 per cent Pinot Meunier for body and smoothness, and 5 to 10 per cent Chardonnay for freshness. It is made by the traditional method, and a deliberately higher dosage gives the smooth, expressive, off-dry style, which also holds up well served over ice.
The colour is a luminous rosé with coppery highlights and a lively bead. The nose shows red berries, strawberry and raspberry, with a touch of exotic fruit. The palate is full and smooth, its juicy berry fruit set against a harmonious freshness and closing gently sweet. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass, or over ice for a modern serve. It makes an expressive aperitif and pairs with fruity desserts, prawns and lightly spiced starters.
