Description
Moët & Chandon has been based in Epernay since 1743 and remains one of the largest houses in Champagne. Its Imperial Brut is the reference cuvee, and this Bright Night release presents it in a 1.5 litre magnum with a light-up base built for evening celebration. The wine follows the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and ageing on the lees that gives the fine bead and the biscuity depth beneath the fruit. The blend leans on Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier for body with Chardonnay for freshness, and the low 7 g/l dosage keeps the style firmly brut.
The colour is a clear golden yellow with an even, persistent mousse. The nose carries green apple, roasted nuts and a touch of vanilla, while the palate adds white peach, pear and a citrus edge over a full, long finish. Serve it well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute. It works as an aperitif and alongside seafood starters or lightly sauced fish, and its fruit also suits a white peach tart.
