Description
Moët & Chandon has been based in Épernay since 1743, and Brut Impérial is its reference cuvée, blended from Pinot Noir for structure, Pinot Meunier for fullness and Chardonnay for freshness, with reserve wines added to hold the house style year on year. Made by the traditional method, it ages on the lees to develop the fine bead, balance and bready complexity for which it is known, and the Brut dosage keeps the finish dry. This half-bottle format is well suited to an aperitif or a smaller gathering.
The wine is a light golden yellow with green reflections and a very fine, persistent bead. The nose reveals green apple, citrus and stone fruit over floral notes and a hint of brioche. The palate is fresh, balanced and elegant, with lively acidity, a fine mineral edge and a gentle creaminess into a long, clean finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside seafood, oysters, sushi, light fish dishes and mild cheeses.
