Description
Moët et Chandon created Ice Imperial Rose as a rose Champagne designed to be poured over ice, an unusual approach for the region. The cuvee is led by Pinot Noir at around 45 to 55 percent for structure and red fruit, with Pinot Meunier for fullness and a smaller share of Chardonnay for freshness, rounded out by reserve wines for consistency. It is made by the traditional method with ageing on the lees, but finished at a Demi-Sec dosage of around 38 g/l so it holds its balance when ice dilutes it in the glass.
The colour is a bright, vivid pink with golden reflections. The nose is fruit-forward, with strawberry, raspberry and cherry alongside pomegranate and red berries, closing on a bittersweet pink grapefruit note. The palate is generous and gently sweet, with lively acidity keeping it fresh, and a long, refreshing finish. Serve over ice in a large glass at around 8 degrees, garnished with red berries or a slice of grapefruit. It suits fruit desserts, light Mediterranean dishes and grilled poultry.
