Description
Martini & Rossi has been a landmark name in Italian sparkling wine since 1863, and this Prosecco DOC comes from the Veneto in northern Italy, made entirely from the Glera grape. It is produced by the Charmat method, with the second fermentation carried out in stainless steel tanks. That approach preserves the primary aromatics of Glera and gives a fruity, lively wine with a fine bead, finished at a moderate 11% alcohol so it suits everything from an aperitif to a festive dinner.
The colour is a light straw yellow with a lively, fine bead. The nose shows green apple, pear, citrus and white flowers with a hint of stone fruit. The palate is fresh, dry and harmonious, with balanced acidity and a fruity, lightly mineral close. Serve it well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes an ideal aperitif and suits light starters, antipasti and prosciutto, seafood and fresh salads with goat's cheese, along with light pasta, citrus risotto and summer fruit desserts.
