Description
Martini Frizzante Rosato is a semi-sparkling rosé from Martini & Rossi, drawn from the wine regions of Lombardy, Romagna and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in northern Italy. It is a blend of Riesling Italico, Chardonnay, Trebbiano and Garganega with a measure of red grape for its colour, and as a frizzante it carries a light, gentle fizz rather than a full spumante pressure. It is finished in a medium-dry style, so a soft fruit sweetness sits alongside a fresh acidity.
The colour is salmon pink with a delicate violet hue. The nose shows floral notes and a hint of red fruit, and the palate is refreshingly medium-dry and balanced, with red-fruit flavours and a fresh acidity carried on a light bead into a long, persistent close. Serve it well chilled in a wine glass, on its own or over ice as an aperitif. It suits light starters and summer salads, works with goat's cheese, and its soft fruit also carries a simple fruit dessert.
